Windows 10 update on Surface 3 removes Drawboard PDF

With the release of Windows 10 on the 29th of July 2015, Windows users across the world have begun updating their devices.

Whilst this is fantastic news, we have received reports of the preinstalled Drawboard PDF for Surface app disappearing from Surface 3 devices upon Win10 update. We have notified our counterparts at Microsoft and these are the instructions we have been provided to help you.

If you have not yet updated Microsoft advise you to

  1. Perform an upgrade using the "Windows Update" program
  2. Create an installation media and on the "Choose what to keep" screen choose "Keep personal files and apps"

If you have already upgraded Microsoft advise you to

  1. Roll back to Windows 8.1 and following the instructions listed above. Please see this article for more instructions on how to do this.
  2. You can contact Surface support at http://www.microsoft.com/surface/en-au/support/contact-us (substituting your locale in the URL). The team at surface have indicated that if you purchase Drawboard PDF, they will refund your purchase and allow you still keep the app.

Thank you for your patience and we hope this eases your problems. Microsoft have indicated that they are still working on other ways to resolve this issue.
